ALLAN, Howard -- Age 76, died October 7, 2001 at his home in Walnut Creek, where he had moved 4 years ago from Corte Madera. After many years in Home Furnishings merchandising and selling in the Bay Area, at City of Paris and then at Breuners, he retired in 1990. After retirement some of his many volunteer activities included acting as Court Appointed Special Advocate for Children, tutoring high school and ESL students, and working with Guide Dogs for the Blind. For his World War II service across Europe with the 94th Infantry Division he was awarded the Bronze Star and nominated for the Silver Star. He is survived by Sue Allan, his wife of 48 years, sons David and Steven, granddaughters Dina and Leora and his brother Bert. Memorial donations may be made to Guide Dogs for the Blind, 350 Los Ranchitos, San Rafael 94903 or the American Cancer Society.
