Delphine L. Smith, Teacher, Former Newswoman, Dies
Mrs. Delphine L. Smith, Sausalito resident for the past 10 years, a newspaperwoman and teacher, died yesterday at a San Francisco hospital after a short illness. She was born in Arkansas 57 years ago.
Mrs. Smith lived at 7 Curry avenue with her husband, Irving B. Smith, retired Navy lieutenant commander, who survives.
At the time of her death, Mrs. Smith taught the second grade at a private school in San Francisco, Town School For Boys. She formerly wrote society news for the Marin Journal before it was merged with the San Rafael Independent.
She was also former managing editor of National Motorist Magazine, official publication of the National Automobile Club, was a member of the staff of Sunset Magazine and was an active member of Christ Episcopal Church in Sausalito.
Survivors in addition to her husband are two daughters, Mrs. Mary Jane Langlais of Sleepy Hollow and Mrs. Patricia Ann Rebele of Washington, D.C.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Christ Episcopal Church. Burial will be private. Friends may call at the Frank J. Keaton Mortuary in Sausalito until 10:30 a.m. Monday.
