In loving memory of Vern Wilson of Fairfax. Born in San Francisco on February 5, 1916, he died on April 4, 2002. He was 86 years old. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of WWII. He was an entertainment specialist, touring the country. He began an early career in radio prior to WWII. He was on "One Man's Family" and participated in many early radio shows and commercials; one well noted was "20 Mule Team Borax". He refused an offer to go to Hollywood because he did not want to leave San Francisco. He became a radio announcer on radio KYA. After his return from the war, he became a pioneer television announcer for KRON TV. He has been a resident of Marin County for 53 years. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Evelyn Wilson, two daughters Sherry Huffman of Orange County and Lauren Pfaff of Concord, his four grandchildren Mark and Travis Huffman and Nicholas and Jamie Pfaff, a sister Vera Brauer of Portland and two nieces Chris Wubbenhorst and Mary Olson. Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Sunday, April 7, 2002 at 1:00 PM at Monte's Chapel of the Hills, 330 Red Hill Avenue, San Anselmo.
