Walter R. Gruber

A Mass of Christian Burial for Walter R. Gruber, a 50-year Marin resident, will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Sebastian's Church in Greenbrae.

Mr. Gruber died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 1987, at Marin General Hospital. He was 89.

He was born in St. Paul, Minn., and moved to California 60 years ago. He spent 50 years in Marin, living five years [in] Sausalito, more than 20 years in Ross and 24 years in Greenbrae.

Mr. Gruber owned and operated several dry goods stores. Federated Stores were operated in Sausalito, West Portal and San Francisco.

He is survived by his wife, Elsie Gruber of Greenbrae; a daughter, Beverly Ann Wilder of Pleasanton; a brother, Joseph Gruber of St. Paul, Minn.; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Recitation of the rosary will be at 7:30 tonight at Keaton's Mortuary in San Rafael.

Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery in San Rafael.
