Suzanne T. Welts
Of Belvedere, California died peacefully at her home on Tuesday, 5 February 2002 at 7:30 p.m. while being tended by her husband, Robert, and immediate family after a brief illness. Suzanne was born 23 November 1915 in Chicago and moved to Reno, Nevada in 1935. There she attended the University of Nevada majoring in art and was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. In 1937 she married Will Austin, a mining man. She bore and raised two children and remained a wife and mother until his demise in 1964. The couple moved to Belvedere in 1953 where she began painting and sculpting; art being one of the principle loves of her life.
In 1972 Suzanne and Dr. Robert V. Welts were married in Reno, Nevada by Justice Gordon Thompson. After a confirmational tribal wedding in Kenya, Africa, the blissful couple lived in Belvedere until her passing.
Mrs. Welts is survived by her devoted husband Robert, her brother Morton J. Traub of Santa Rosa, CA, her two children, Gregory Austin of Reno, NV and Susan Genevish of Tavernier, FL and by her ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Suzanne's life was one filled with beauty, art and unending love; she will be missed especially, by her family, her many friends and by the people she touched with her presence and art. She was a fine example of a truly loving human being.
There will be a Memorial Celebration at her home in Belvedere for her family and friends Saturday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. on 10 February 2002. If you wish, in lieu of flowers a donation to Sight and Insight, 616 Throckmorton Avenue, Mill Valley, CA 94941 may be made.
