EDITH WRIGHT DEVINE
Lip-reading instructor

Edith Wright Devine of Fairfax died Sunday, Nov. 5, 1989, at Care-West Bayside Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Kentfield after a long illness. She was 93.

Mrs. Devine was a native of Ottawa, Kan. She lived in Ohio before moving to Fairfax 25 years ago.

Mrs. Devine worked for the Board of Education in North Olmstead, Ohio, for 15 years before retiring in 1964. She was a lip-reading instructor for the Hearing Society for the Bay Area in San Francisco from 1975 to 1989.

Mrs. Devine is survived by a son, W. Edward Devine of Vero Beach, Fla., one grandchild and one great-grandchild. Her husband, William O. Devine; a daughter, Joan E. Devine; a sister, Ethel M. Casey; and three brothers, Clifford, Earl and Walter Wright, died earlier.

Private family services wee held. A private burial was in Mount Tamalpais Cemetery in San Rafael. Arrangements were by Mount Tamalpais Mortuary in San Rafael.

Her family requests that memorial contributions go to the Hearing Society for the Bay Area Inc., 20 Tenth Street, Suite 200, San Francisco, 94103.
