Joseph Martinez Passed Away
After a lingering illness Mr. Joseph Martinez passed away at his Petaluma avenue home last Saturday at the age of 49 years. He was a native of Monterey, and was a member of the prominent Spanish families.
Mr. Martinez has been a resident of San Rafael a long time and had a host of friends. For some years he was head chef at Hotel Rafael, but during the past two years had been one of the proprietors of the Marin Hotel.
The funeral on Tuesday morning was largely attended, the Order of Eagles attending in a body, led by the Eagle Drum Corps. After a requiem high mass at St. Raphael’s church the body was interred in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
He leaves a widow, Mrs. Jannie Martinez and a son, Arthur J. Deceased was a brother of Mrs. J. Miranda, Mrs. Frank Escobar, Mrs. C. Lasahe and Mrs. Frank O’Brien and Vita, Eugene and Miguel Martinez.
