Former U.S. Marshall Dead

James Ashe Moore, one of the proprietors of the Manzanita Villa and formerly United Marshal of Nevada for eight years, passed away at Manzanita Villa from heart failure on Saturday morning. He has been in poor health for the past two years.

A solemn requiem high mass was said for the repose of his soul in the French Catholic church on Monday. A large number of his friends attended.

He was a native of Calais, Me., and was the brother of Mrs. James M. Hacker, George, Thomas and Katherine Moore. He was a prominent resident of Nevada for many years, engaged in teaming and serving with honor as United States Marshall for Nevada for eight years. He was fearless, upright, impartial, and kind, yet firm. He never flinched from doing his duty, always fulfilling the duties of the office.

He was a member of Golden Gate Aerie of Eagles. He is well known in Sausalito and leaves many friends to mourn his death.
