CARROLL, Adamae Tuckey -- Died in Auburn, California, on July 27, 2001. She was born on September 10, 1912, in Belvedere, California, the youngest daughter of Bertram and Josephine Tuckey and the sister of Bert, Robert, and Luella Tuckey. Adamae studied painting with the noted California artist Gottardo Piazzoni, father of her lifelong friend Mireille Piazzoni. After she graduated from Tamalpais High School, Mr. Piazonni encouraged her to pursue an education in art, and she enrolled in the California School of Fine Arts (now the San Francisco Art Institute). She met and eventually married Frank E. Carroll, Jr., a union which would last until the latter's death in 1997. They are survived by their two children, Gigi Sims and Frank Carroll; and three grandchildren, Christy McDonald, Peter Sims, and Christo Sims; and by a great-granddaughter, Zoe Adamae McDonald. We remember Adamae as a warm, creative person who was always interested in everything life could offer. She gave up a career as a professional artist to raise her family, but she never gave up being an artist, which was manifest in the way she led her life. She will be greatly missed and always loved. Contributions in her memory may be made to Sutter Auburn Faith Hospice, 11795 Education St., Auburn, CA 95602.
