Jack Lee Butts
Retired salesman

Jack Lee Butts of San Rafael, a retired salesman, died Monday, Sept. 14, 1992, at Marin General Hospital after a long illness. He was 84.

He was a native of Omaha, Neb., and graduated with a degree in journalism from Northwestern University.

He lived most of his life in Montebello, where he worked as a salesman for RJM Steel Company.

Mr. Butts later lived in Sacramento, where he was a volunteer aide at the UC Davis Medical Center.

He was a former member of Sons in Retirement, San Rafael Branch #47, and St. Luke Presbyterian Church in San Rafael.

Mr. Butts appreciated music and played the piano and organ. He also enjoyed reading.

He is survived by his wife, Eugenia Pitcher Butts of San Rafael; two daughters, Gwen Mauvais of San Rafael and Sheila Cordrey of Davis; a sister, Harriet Walsh of Gardena; one stepdaughter, Joan Martin of Sebastopol; a stepson, David Pitcher of Pleasanton;
and four grandsons.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at St. Luke Presbyterian Church, 10 Bayview Drive, San Rafael.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial contributions to St. Luke Presbyterian Church Building Fund or to the San Rafael Improvement Club, Remembrance Fund, P. O. Box 150454, San Rafael, 94915-0454.

A Death Notice in the same papers adds information: he was the father-in-law of Hamp Mauvais and Bob Cordrey, grandfather of Matt and Mark Warren of San Rafael and Pat and Dan Cordrey of Davis; survived by step-grandchildren, Jill and Lane Johnson, Carol and Tobin Martin, and Lynn and Lisa Pitcher, and one great-step-granddaughter, Claire Martin.

He will be remembered for his gentle kind ways and his wonderful sense of humor. He brought joy and love to all who knew him.
