Wilson (Buck) Leon Bailey
Entered into rest April 8, 2002 in Novato, California at age 82 years. He was born March 28, 1920 in Vernon, Indiana and was a 42 year resident of Novato. Wilson entered the Army as an enlisted Corporal in 1940 and completed an Officer Candidate course in Infantry School in 1942 and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant. He was promoted on a regular basis and received the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Army Commendation Medal with the First Oak Leaf Cluster and was part of the Joint United States Military Advisory Group to Thailand from 1958-1960 and retired as a Lt. Colonel in 1964 after being stationed in Nebraska, Colorado, Michigan and Thailand. After his military career ended he bought and built up Buck's Saw Service in Novato until he retired in 1998. Wilson was very involved in the Novato community as a Founding member of the Novato Elks Lodge #2655 and had been a member of the New Castle, Indiana Elks Lodge since 1946. In the Novato Little League he held many positions including the Player Agent in 1967 and 1968 and Buck's Saw Service has been a team sponsor from 1971 to the present. Wilson loved to fish in San Pablo Bay and the ocean for salmon. He is survived by his wife Alvena L. Bailey; daughter Carol Bailey Mazur, her husband Edward, their children Katherine, David and Jonathan; son Mark Thomas Bailey, his wife Lori and their children Allison and Sarah. Services were held at Novato United Methodist Church and the Family requests that contributions be made in his memory to the Novato Elks Lodge #2655, P.O. Box #150789, San Rafael, CA 94915 or to Hospice of Marin, 150 Nellen Avenue, Corte Madera, CA 94925. KEATON'S REDWOOD CHAPEL 415-897-1151.
