Age 88, longtime San Quentin Village resident, arts patron, and champion of cross-cultural understanding, died May 28, 2002, at Aegis of Corte Madera. Formerly of Staten Island, he was Articles Editor of Redbook and Today's Woman. He wrote for Reader's Digest, Look, This Week, Travel, Family Circle, Woman's Home Companion and many other publications. He taught writing at Columbia University and Queens College of the City University of New York and volunteered as an English teacher to disadvantaged children. Mr. Baron was President of the Chinese Arts Council, Board Member of the Society for Asian Art, and member of the American Society of Journalists and Authors, World Affairs Council, Asia Society, US-China Peoples Friendship Association, Dance Theatre of Harlem, and many other organizations. Celebration of Life and Dedication of a dance studio in his honor June 16 at Marin Dance Theatre (415-499-8891). Contributions encouraged to Marin Dance Theatre.
