A Mass of Christian Burial for Biagio Scatena of Larkspur will be offered at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Patrick’s Church in Larkspur.

Scatena, a resident of Larkspur since the early 1930s, died in his home Saturday following a year-long illness. He was 89.

Born in Lucca, Italy, he served in the Italian army during World War I, came to the United States and was drafted into the U. S. Army.

He owned a cabinet-making and contracting business in San Francisco.

He was a member of the American Legion and Elks Lodge in San Rafael.

He is survived by a daughter, Eva Ceccotti of Larkspur; a sister, Palmeira Fambrini of San Anselmo; two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

The Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. today in the Chapel of the Hills, San Anselmo. Friends may call at the mortuary from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. today. Burial will be in Italian Cemetery, Colma.

A Death Notice in the same paper adds that he was the husband of the late Gina Scatena, father-in-law of Lee Ceccotti, grandfather of Eugene Ceccotti of San Rafael and Leanne Coyne of Corte Madera, great-grandfather of Gina Ceccotti and Sophia Coyne.
