Sheraton Palace manager
James Stahlbaum, a former Marin resident, died Saturday, July 28, 1990, at Midland Memorial Hospital in Texas. He was 64.
Mr. Stahlbaum was born in Kentfield and spent his early years in Marin.
He served in the Navy during World War II in the South Pacific.
He attended San Francisco City College and LíEcole díHoteliere in Lausanne, Switzerland.
His career in hotel management included a stint at the Sheraton Palace Hotel in San Francisco.
Before he moved to Midland, he worked in the San Antonio and Dallas areas. Mr. Stahlbaum moved to Midland in 1978 and worked at the Sheraton Downtown, Ramada and several other inns he managed.
He was an officer of both the Midland and Texas Hotel Associations.
Mr. Stahlbaum was also a member of the Confederate Air Force.
He is survived by a son, Jim S. Stahlbaum of Fair Oaks, Sacramento County; a daughter, Anne Katrin Stahlbaum of Euless, Texas; and a brother, Thomas Stahlbaum of Glen Ellen.
A memorial service will be in Midland. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery.
Arrangements are by the Ellis Funeral Home in Midland.
