Well Known San Francisco Attorney Passes
JAMES F. SHEEHAN, an attorney for the last 25 years in the legal department of the Market Street Railways, died of pneumonia Christmas night at his home in San Anselmo.
SHEEHAN was a former member of the Police Department of San Francisco. He was injured "breaking" a horse for the department in 1897, and was given a disability pension. In 1904 he was ordered back to active duty, but he refused saying he was still disabled.
After a legal fight that extended over two decades, the State Supreme Court awarded him back pension. SHEEHAN leaves a widow in San Anselmo.
The funeral took place Friday. A requiem high mass was celebrated at St. Ignatius' Church. Interment was at Holy Cross Cemetery.
