LATNO DIES AT 71
Arthur C. Latno, Marin County banker for more than half a century, died yesterday at a local hospital during surgery following two heart attacks in as many days, He was 71.
He was vice president of the Bank of Marin, a post which he took in 1969. He began his career as a teller with the First National Bank of San Rafael on April 19, 1919. He rose through the bank’s official ranks, becoming executive vice president in 1958. He remained as vice president through the bank’s subsequent mergers with Crocker-Anglo and later Crocker-Citizens bank until he moved to Bank of Marin.
Latno was graduated from the Hitchcock Military Academy in San Rafael and worked on a state Department of Highways survey crew for Western Pacific Railroad before turning to banking.
His wife, the late Marie C. Latno, died last Oct. 6. They made their home at 14 Mountain View Avenue, San Rafael.
Latno is survived by a son, Arthur C. Latno Jr., 10 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Latno was a trustee of Dominican College; he was one of the original board members, his son recalled today. He also was a trustee for the Marin County unit of Guide Dogs for the Blind, and a longtime treasurer for the San Rafael Lions Club.
Mass of the Resurrection will be offered at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Raphael’s Church, San Rafael, followed by burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Colma. The family prefers donations to the donor’s favorite charity.
