Mrs. Wm. Skeels, Grief Stricken, Takes Own Life
That Mrs. Grace Dixon Skeels, 60, well known Ross woman, who disappeared from the S. S. Yale on Saturday night while en route to Los Angeles, deliberately jumped to her death from the ship, seems certain after an investigation by authorities.
A note directed to her niece, Mrs. Levant Brown of Ross, was found in her cabin stating that she had experienced such sorrow in the past year that she could no longer stand it.
Mrs. Skeels’ husband, William Skeels, retired Sacramento banker, who had resided in Ross for the past 12 years, died last August and her mother, Mrs. A. Dixon, passed away several months before that.
