JOSEPH BARTLETT

Joseph Bartlett of San Rafael, a two-year Marin resident, died Monday in a local hospital after a short illness. He was 80.

Bartlett was born in Durango, Colo. He started working as coal miner at the age of 12, and later became a rodeo hand.

He served in the Army in Europe during World War I.

Bartlett came to California in 1934 and settled in San Francisco. He was a carpenter and a member of the Carpenter’s Union Local 22 in San Francisco.

He is survived by five daughters, Mary C. Austin of Larkspur, Dorothy L. Nicholas of Denver, Betty J. Crutchley of San Mateo, Beverly L. Beauchamp of Arvada, Colo., and Corrine A. Wininger of Fremont; two sons, Harold R. Bartlett of Corte Madera and Gerald E. Bartlett of Daly City; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Daphne Mortuary, Corte Madera. Burial will be at Mount Tamalpais Cemetery, San Rafael.

The family prefers memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society.
