W. R. MASSINGALE
Walter Raymond (Ray) Massingale of Corte Madera, an advertising salesman for the San Francisco Examiner until his retirement four years ago, died Saturday at a local hospital after a long illness. He was 60.
Massingale was born in Greenville, S.C. and settled in San Francisco following his discharge from the Navy in 1945. He moved to Tiburon in 1955 and to 5 Paloma Drive, Corte Madera, in 1958.
He began work for the Examiner in 1952.
Massingale was a member of the Lions Club of Corte Madera and member and one-time vice president of the San Francisco chapter of the Newspaper Guild.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Britt Massingale.
Funeral arrangements were pending today at Keatonís Mortuary, San Rafael. His wife prefers contributions to the Marin County Heart Association or a favorite charity.
