Carl Symonds, veteran resident of Mill Valley, died early Monday morning after an illness of several weeks.
Symonds was believed recovering from influenza when a relapse occurred.
Since 1933, Symonds has represented the Mill Valley district on the Marin Municipal Water district. For years he was a member of the Mill Valley School Board. He was also on the board of freeholders which two years ago proposed city government changes. He was a charter member of the Mill Valley Country Club, during its existence.
Symonds was born in Sitka, Alaska, a little over 60 years ago, the son of a Navy Admiral.
A successful contractor for many years, Symonds engineered the construction of major projects in various states.
Mrs. Kathryn Symonds survives her husband.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Robert F. Russell and Co. chapel in Mill Valley.
