Dr. J. MALCOLM STRATTON
Dr. J. Malcolm Stratton, an Inverness resident who practiced medicine in Berkeley for many years, died Nov. 19 at his home at the age of 82.
Dr. Stratton was born in Berkeley and spent most of his life there. Nine years ago, he moved to Inverness with his wife of 58 years, Kate Whitney Stratton.
He was a member of Alta Bates Hospital in Berkeley and twice served as its chief of staff. He retired in 1976.
Dr. Stratton graduated from Harvard Medical School in 1927 after receiving his undergraduate degree from the University of California at Berkeley. He returned to California as an intern at Highland Hospital in Oakland and then entered practice in his home community
During World War II, he served in the Navy Medical Corps in the Pacific.
In addition to his wife, Dr. Stratton is survived by two sons, James Malcolm Stratton Jr. of Oakland and Dwight Stratton of San Bruno; two daughters, Patty Stratton of Washington, D.C., and Margo Peters of Berkeley; and ten grandchildren.
No services are planned.
The family prefers donations in his memory to Save the Redwoods League or to Alta Bates Hospital.
