Louis C. Ferrario Dies At 82
Louis C. Ferrario, a long-time Mill Valley resident, died yesterday at a local hospital following a short illness. He was 82.
A native of Lonate Pozzolo, Italy, Ferrario came to Mill Valley in 1904. He lived at 102 East Blithedale Avenue for 45 years before moving to 144 Hillside Avenue last year.
He left Mill Valley twice to work on Alaskan railroads but returned to become track foreman for the Mount Tamalpais Railroad. He was the last employee of the railroad when it shut down in the early 1930s.
He worked in the Marin Municipal Water District until 1941 and then was employed by the City of Mill Valley in its public works department until he retired seven years ago.
He is survived by his son, Louis C. Ferrario Jr. of Mill Valley, two daughters, Frances Bacchetti of Tracy and Linda Bannister of San Mateo, and three grandchildren.
Requiem Mass will be at noon Saturday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Mill Valley. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery in San Rafael. A Rosary will be recited at 8:30 p.m. tomorrow at the Russell and Gooch Funeral Chapels in Mill Valley.
