John Hoffman, a 30-year resident of Marin, died Thursday, Sept. 21, 1989, at Rafael Convalescent Hospital in San Rafael. He was 95.
Mr. Hoffman was born in McCook, Neb., the oldest of 16 children, only three of whom survive him.
For much of his life, Mr. Hoffman lived in Colorado, where he raised cattle and worked for the Union Pacific Railroad.
He moved to San Anselmo in 1959 and lived there for the past 30 years. He had been in the convalescent hospital for two weeks.
According to his daughter, Dorothy Brown of San Rafael, Mr. Hoffman greatly loved the outdoors.
He also was a longtime member of the Congregational Church in Colorado.
In addition to his daughter in San Rafael, Mr. Hoffman is survived by another daughter, Florine Hoffman of San Anselmo; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
His wife, Katherine Hoffman, died in 1985. Another daughter, Leona Luebcke, also died earlier.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Davis Community Cemetery in Davis.
The family asks that memorial contributions be sent to a favorite charity.
