Harold S. Elberg
Harold S. Elberg, founder of First Federal Savings and Loan Federation of San Rafael, died Sunday. He was 86.
Mr. Elberg was a San Francisco native who attended Lowell High School and the University of San Francisco. During World War II he was superintendent of outfitting docks at Marinship and worked closely with all government agencies perparing Liberty ships and tankers for use worldwide.
He was a resident of Tiburon for 30 years and resided in Sleepy Hollow for many years before. An avid sailor, Mr. Elberg was a member of the Marin Yacht Club and past member of the San Francisco Yacht Club and the St. Francis Yacht Club.
He was a past president of the San Rafael Rotary and past director of the Marin Humane Society and San Rafael Chamber of Commerce. He and his wife were world travelers and collectors of art from all over the globe. He was a member of the Trustees Circle and a donor to the California Academy of Science.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Margo; son, Gregg; sister, Janice Marks of Beverly Hills; and three grandchildren.
No services will be held.
