Bert E. Terry
Bert Eugene Terry, retired assistant manager of Petriniís Market, died unexpectedly Saturday at his home in Corte Madera. He was 64.
Terry was born in Wenatchee, Wash., and lived in Ashland, Ore., and Yreka, where he owned Western Auto stores, before moving to Marin. He had worked at Bryce Brothers in Strawberry and the former American Distillery in Sausalito before going to Petriniís. He retired about two years ago.
He was a member of the Retail Clerks Union.
He also was a member of the Elks Club in Yreka and San Rafael, was a past president of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Ashland and was a member of the Yreka Chamber of Commerce and the American Legion in Yreka.
Terry served with the Army in Europe during World War II and was awarded the Bronze Star.
He is survived by his wife, Georgena; one daughter, Jody Terry Kozlowskis of San Rafael; one son, Michael Terry of Novato, and one grandson.
Friends may call at Keatonís Mortuary, San Rafael, until 9 p.m. Tuesday.
There will be a memorial service Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of San Anselmo.
The family prefers memorial contributions to the Guide Dogs for the Blind.
A Death Notice on the same page names his grandson, Brian E. Terry. Interment was private at Mt. Tamalpais Cemetery.
