John Robert Smith, Retired Attorney
John Robert Smith of Novato, a retired attorney, died yesterday in a San Francisco hospital after a lengthy illness. He was 64.
Born in California, he lived most of his life in San Francisco and practiced law there. He removed to Larkspur about six years ago and to Novato last year. He was a member of the State Bar of California and the San Francisco Bar Association.
He was a graduate of University of San Francisco. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth C. Smith of the home, a son, John R. (Bob) Smith of San Anselmo, two daughters, Sylvia McCrea of Larkspur and Ruth Anne Smith of Novato, two brothers, Dr. Frank Hilton Smith of Salinas and Vernon F. Smith of San Francisco, and seven grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow in St. Patrickís Catholic Church, Larkspur, followed by burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery, San Rafael. The Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. today in Keatonís Mortuary, San Rafael.
The family prefers contributions to the American Cancer Society.
