Man Slain By N. W. P. Train Is Identified
Brother Gets First News Of Relative’s Death in The Independent
The man who was killed by an electric train of the Northwestern Pacific Railroad Company at the Greenfield Avenue crossing Sunday at 12:30 P.M. was positively identified as William Erickson, 45, by his brother, John Pafs, of 12 Ross Road, San Rafael this afternoon.
Pafs, who had his name changed from Erickson at one time because there were so many other Ericksons in the community, told Deputy Coroner Harry Williams that he and his brother had walked to the station to take a train for San Francisco but his brother decided to first walk to San Anselmo to see someone he knew there. Pafs took the train at the West End depot and it was that train which struck and killed his brother.
When Erickson did not return to his home today, Pafs came downtown and bought an Independent and when he saw the story of Erickson’s death, he went to the morgue and identified the body of his brother.
