Mrs. Susan Goudy Dies Suddenly at Home in Tomales
Death came suddenly to Mrs. Susan Goudy, widow of former Marin County Supervisor, Henry Goudy, at her home in Tomales last Sunday morning. She died of a heart attack.
Mrs. Goudy had planned to accompany her daughter, Mrs. Wm. Parks, Tomales, to Oakland Sunday morning to see her hew great-grandchild. Mrs. Parks telephoned her mother Sunday morning. There was no response.
Repeated calls failed to get an answer and a relative motored to the home. They found the doors locked and on investigation discovered that the aged woman had passed away, but had been dead but a short time.
Mrs. Goudy would have been 79 years of age on March 12, 1940. She was born in County Cavan, Ireland, and had been a resident of California for 60 years, and of Tomales for the past 49 years.
With her late husband, she occupied the well known Goudy ranch for many years. After his death in 1932, Mrs. Goudy moved into Tomales. She loved flowers and spent much of her time in the garden surrounding her home.
A member of the Tomales Presbyterian church, she was active in its organizations and was one of the prominent women of Marin County.
Surviving are her children, Mrs. Sarah G. Parks, Tomales; a son, Harry A. Gowdy, San Rafael.
There are numerous grand children and other relatives who mourn her passing.
The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon from the Tomales Presbyterian church with interment in Tomales Cemetery.
