Gerald Francis Nowell, A Resident of Mill Valley
Passed away May 17, 2002. Gerald Francis Nowell was born in Cleveland, Ohio on July 18, 1918. Most of his years growing up were spent in St. Paul, Minnesota. He attended Cretin High School in St. Paul and went on to the University of Minnesota on a football scholarship. He played on two National Championship teams ('40, '41) and graduated with a degree in Finance in 1942. Jerry enlisted in the Army in 1942 and eventually obtained the rank of Captain. He was awarded the Bronze Star and the Army Commendation Ribbon. In the post-war era, he settled in San Francisco where he met his wife Geraldine Kathleen Judge in 1952. They were married October 31, 1952 and became parents for the first time in October 1953 with their daughter Pamela. They moved to Mill Valley in 1954 where they have resided ever since. Their son, Timothy was born in December 1954. Jerry was active in the Marin Republican Party, Birthright, and Women Helping All People. He is survived by his children Pamela and Timothy, grandchildren Roya 14 and Alex 12, son-in-law Ray and daughter-in-law Jacque, and many nieces and nephews. Friends and family are invited to attend a Visitation Tuesday (TODAY) May 21, 2002 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday, May 22, 2002 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Russell & Gooch Funeral Chapel in Mill Valley. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, May 22, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Mill Valley. Reception to follow. Memorial gifts preferred to Women Helping All People.
