I, DANIEL KATZ, a native of Bremen, Germany, but now a resident of Novato Township, Marin County, State of California, being of sound mind, memory and understanding … I give, bequeath and devise all my property, real, personal and mixed … to my dear brother, John Katz, residing at this date in Bremen, Germany, or to his lawful heirs … I appoint Ch. Duisenberg of San Francisco my executor…….

When the will was admitted for probate on April 17, 1876 Charles Duisenberg stated in court that Daniel Katz was about 60 years old at the time of his death and that the estate was valued at about $2100. John Katz actually inherited $2,193 in October, 1876.
Daniel Katz died March 5, 1876 according to the minutes of the Marin County Probate Court, Book E, page 106.
He died March 6, 1876 according to his tombstone in Novato, CA.
