-45 Sunnyside, out in the Sunset District. Kindergarden
-46 Holy Name, 1st and part of 2nd grade. I remember Sister Mary Ruler and the sore knuckles.
I don't remember the name of the school but it was up above Flood Avenue. One thing I did was climb over the fence after a ball and then went home, thinking it was lunch time. It was only 10 o'clock and everyone thought I went home because I might get in trouble for climbing the fence.
-1951 Junipero Sierra, grades 3 through 6. The school is in the outer Mission district across the street from Holly Park.
-1953 St. Peters, on Alabama St (?) near 24th Street. The Brother's loved being physical with us poor guys.
Polytechnic High School for my Freshman year. Long bus ride across town. I got in trouble and they asked me (told me) not to come back. Jeez!!
-1957 Balboa High School. Played baseball and lettered in my Senior year. Also made All-City that year as a pitcher. Most interesting was that same year, 6 teams tied for first place with identical 5-3 records. They drew straws or something and Balboa and Sacred Heart were left out of the play-offs. I won 3 and lost 1 that year. The only loss was to Sacred Heart and their pitcher, Roy Tripaldi, and I went to Junipero Sierra together.
