The problem with answering this is in the timing, because things do change (not with the seasons, but with time). When I was young most of the movie houses were going strong; on Market there were the Fox, Golden Gate, Warfield, Orpheum and some others that I just can't remember. (Talk of Alzeimers, what is dat?) All of these theatres were beautiful, and most had red curtains. The Golden Gate had live entertainment in those years, complete with amatuer hours, and professionals played during the breaks. These were double bills, and they also had the MovieTone News each week and a short that continued on and on, and on. Anyone remember Commander Don Winslow? He did survive the war, didn't he?
