My earliest memory in life was crossing a large bridge in a car. I was sitting in the passenger seat. I remember we were going upwards, that it was slightly foggy, and I could see naval ships down to the right.
I realized later that this must have been the Bay Bridge heading towards the City and that the ships were anchored at Treasure Island.
I must have been all of two or three years old. My father was stationed at Hunter's Point at the time, though sailing out at sea. This would have been around 1964.
While I was just recently talking to my father, I found out he was actually stationed for a short time at the Treasure Island Naval Base in the late 1950s.
