I spotted your post and wanted to share a few things about the Barrett Family. My grandfather, Larry Barrett, owned and operarted the Chevron gas station at 9th and Howard. His brother, Frank was a major contractor on the Golden Gate Bridge, constructing all of the concrete sections of the structure. My father, Jack Barrett, later ran the company that my grandfather created. They both have long passed, but their love for San Francisco and their friends & family will always dwell in my heart. I must also relay that Larry was a decorated San Francisco policeman (1911-1917), who joined the army to fight in WWI. He was battlefield promoted to the rank of captain.
