BOWEN, Elizabeth Judd - Entered into rest December 17, 2001 at the age of 89. Wife of the late Lieutenant General John W. Bowen; she is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Ward of Tiburon and Evelyn Lockton of Hillsborough. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Margaret Koike, Stephanie Yamada, Christopher Ward, and Rachel Chandramouli; and 10 great-granchildren. A native of Alabama, Elizabeth was a talented landscape painter who had her first formal training under artists in Virginia. She studied with the renowned painter, Catharine Carter Critcher at the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, D.C. A member of the Mill Valley Art Gallery and the Marin Society of Artists, her work is in private collections throughout the country and in corporate collections in the Bay Area. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. at The Episcopal Church of St. Matthew, One South El Camino Real, San Mateo, California 94401 (650-342-1481). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Episcopal Church of St. Matthew or to the Forbes Norris MDA/ALS Research Center, 2324 Sacramento Street #111, San Francisco, California 94115.
