Funeral for Allan C. Bartlett, 72, of 77 Cascade Drive, Mill Valley, retired newspaper executive, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Russell and Gooch Funeral Chapel, Mill Valley.
Bartlett, who died at his home Saturday after an illness, was a former publisher of the Baywood Press, now the Point Reyes Light, at Point Reyes Station.
He began his newspaper career on the Sioux City, Ia., Tribune.
During World War I he served as a radio operator in the Navy, and after the war worked for the Rocky Mountain News in Denver and then the Denver Post.
He was managing editor of the San Francisco News in 1928-31 and an executive of the Scripps-Howard newspaper chain, serving as editor of the San Diego Sun, 1932-35 and the Houston Press, 1936-45
He purchased the Baywood Press in 1951 after six years in the real estate and investment business in San Francisco, but later sold it.
Bartlett was a longtime member of the San Francisco Press Club and served as its president in 1928.
Surviving are his wife, Lyle, a daughter, Mrs. Jeanne Wade of San Rafael, and a son Todd Bartlett of Novato.
Burial will be at Golden Gate National Cemetery, San Bruno.
