Mrs. Rose Bontempo Succumbs

Rose Bontempo, 73, born in Sicily and a Novato resident since 1959, died yesterday in a local hospital following several years illness.

She was widow of the late John Bontempo, who owned the Sequoia Club in San Rafael and Surf Club in Stinson Beach. The couple owned a grocery store in Pittsburg, Contra Costa County, for a number of years.

Survivors include three brothers, James Jordan of Novato, Louis Jordan of San Rafael, John Jordan of Pittsburg, Pa.; and a sister, Angelica Romano of Pittsburg, Pa.

A Requiem High Mass will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Loretto Church, Novato. The cortege will form at 9:15 a.m. at Chapel of Marin Funeral Home, 1801 Novato Boulevard, Novato.

The Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. tomorrow. Burial will be in Italian Cemetery, Colma.
