Joan Bourgeault of Corte Madera, a longtime employee of Marin General Hospital, died Thursday, Feb. 23, 1989, at Marin General following a long illness. She was 60.
Mrs. Bourgeault, a descendent of the pioneer Hubberty family that settled in the area during the 49er days, was born in Oakland. A life long resident of the Bay Area, she lived in Corte Madera for 30 years.
She began working at Marin General more than 25 years ago, beginning on a temporary basis and eventually becoming the hospital’s purchasing agent, a position she held for many years.
“Throughout her illness she retained her humor and determination and looked forward to going back to work,” said Pamela Burns of Corte Madera, Mrs. Bourgeault’s daughter and only surviving relative.
Mrs. Bourgeault was an animal lover and a great supporter of animal organizations. She also loved to travel and had visited England, France, Italy and Spain. She also traveled extensively in Central America.
At Mrs. Bourgeault’s request, no services will be held. Memorial contributions are preferred to a favorite charity.
Arrangements were handled by Chapel of the Hills in San Anselmo.
