Tom Breen, former Channel 2 manager

Tom Breen, a longtime program manager at KTVU Channel 2, has died at age 81 after a long battle with heart disease.
Mr. Breen, who died on Nov. 22, worked for 34 years in television as a news manager, station manager and finally a program manager at KTVU. He worked at various stations in Denver, Sacramento and Philadelphia before coming to the Bay Area.
For 20 years, Mr. Breen served as program manager at KTVU before retiring in 1986. He settled in Pacific Grove and later in Monterey.
Mr. Breen served in the Marine Corps from 1942 to 1945, rising to the rank of captain and director of the first Marine Corps Special Services Entertainment Division.
Mr. Breen is survived by his wife, Elaine, and eight children -- T. Anthony of Walnut Creek; Linda Breen Pierce of Carmel; Anne Bruns of Issaquah, Wash.; Maren Schnebeck of Sammamish, Wash.; Brigid Breen of San Rafael; William Breen of Redway (Humboldt County); Joseph Breen of Martinez; and David Breen of Corral de Tierra (Monterey County). He is also survived by a brother, William Breen of Egg Harbor Township, N.J., and a sister, Grace Mamo of Newton Square, Pa., and eight grandchildren.
Visitation services will be held today from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Paul Mortuary, 390 Lighthouse, Pacific Grove. Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 10 a.m. at St. Angela Catholic Church at Lighthouse and Ninth Avenue in Pacific Grove, followed by a burial at San Carlos Cemetery in Monterey.
