Kenneth Elmer Briggs, 39, of 1118 Ferris Drive, Novato, died of a heart attack at his home Saturday.
Briggs was born in Minneapolis, Minn., Feb. 12, 1923. He had lived in California for 23 years and Novato for the past seven years.
He had served as a boatswain’s mate in the Navy and was in the volunteer naval reserve.
Briggs was a construction worker employed by Rothschild, Raffin and Weirick, San Francisco contractors, on the Marin Civic Center project, which was closed by a Laborers Union strike at the time of his death.
He was a member of Operating Engineers Local 3 and a former member of American Legion Post 708 in Novato.
He is survived by his wife, Jewell; a sister, Mrs. Margaret Godette; and a brother, James R. Briggs, both of Minneapolis; two stepsons, Kenneth Ghose of Scotsdale, Ariz., and William Ghose, stationed at Annapolis, Md., in the Navy; and two foster sons, Michael McCauley and Jack Atnip, at the home in Novato.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Redwood Chapel Funeral home in Novato. Burial will be in Golden Gate National Cemetery, San Bruno.
