John Joseph Cannon, 64, collapsed and died in his Lucas Valley home yesterday, only nine days after retiring from a 22-year career with the Military Sea Transportation Service.
The Marin County coroner's office said the death was due to heart trouble. Cannon was pronounced dead on arrival at Kaiser Hospital in San Rafael. He had a history of heart trouble.
He is survived by is wife Beatrice of the home at 40 Mount Tenaya Drive, a son, Jeremiah John Cannon, and a brother, Emmett Cannon of San Francisco.
Cannon was born in San Francisco and was graduated from Sacred Heart High School. He was a veteran of World War II Army service, and was a golfing enthusiast.
Mass of the Resurrection will be offered at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow in St. Monica's Church, San Francisco, followed by burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery, San Rafael. The Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. today in Keaton's Chapel, San Rafael.
