Contractor E. A. Forde Dies At 70
E. A. Forde, pioneer Northern California road builder and president of the firm which bears his name, died yesterday after a long illness at a local hospital. He was 70.
His Corte Madera general contracting firm had been active in heavy construction in Northern California for 34 years. Among its projects were the spillway at Peters Dam in Marin County, pavement and drainage at the Ford Motor Co. assembly plant at Milpitas and the Panoramic highway in Marin County. The firm is currently working on realignment of Sir Francis Drake highway at Woodacre.
Forde is survived by his wife, Lucille E. Forde; three sons, Edward A. Forde Jr. of Terra Linda, William R. Forde of San Rafael Meadows, and John E. Forde of Greenbrae, and 11 grandchildren.
His home was at 117 Morningside drive, San Anselmo. He was a native of San Francisco.
Forde was a veteran of World War 1 and a member of the San Anselmo post of the American Legion. For years he was active on the board of directors of the Marin County Catholic Social Service.
High Requiem Mass is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at St. Anselm’s Church, San Anselmo. Burial will be at Golden Gate National Cemetery, San Bruno. The Rosary is to be recited tomorrow evening at 8 o’clock at the Chapel of the Hills, San Anselmo.

A Death Notice in the same papers adds that he was the brother of Dr. John R. Forde of San Francisco, Mrs. Genevieve Adams of Oakland, Mrs. May Carolan of San Francisco and Mrs. Eileen English of San Francisco. He was a native of San Francisco.
