APL Aide Found Dead In His Car
Allison McMillan Reid, 42, assistant port captain for American President Lines, was found dead yesterday in his station wagon parked on Sir Francis Drake boulevard in Ross near the San Anselmo city line.
An autopsy performed this morning showed that heart failure caused his death, said Charles Monte, deputy coroner.
Captain Reid, his wife, Mary Jacqueline, and a 3-year-old son, Charles, lived on Tamarack road in San Geronimo. He is survived by his wife and son, by his parents, a brother and two sisters.
Captain Reid was a native of Hilo, Hawaii. He had been with American President Lines for 25 years.
Mrs. Reid telephoned the sheriff’s office when her husband failed to arrive home from work by 6 p.m. Saturday.
At 8:30 a.m. yesterday, Ross Assist. Police Chief L. E. Flowers received a telephoned report from an anonymous woman that a man in a station wagon had been parked across from 4 Sir Francis Drake boulevard since Saturday afternoon. Assistant chief Flowers found Captain Reid slumped over in the front seat.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Chapel of the Hills in San Anselmo.
CA Death Index: he was born May 15, 1916; mother’s maiden name, Lyman.
