William M. Crane
A Mass of Christian Burial for William M. Crane of San Rafael, a native of Marin and a banker in the county for more than 60 years, will be said Thursday at 10 a.m. at the St. Raphaelís Church in San Rafael.
Crane died Sunday at a local hospital. He was 83.
Crane was the third generation of his family to live in Marin. He served in the Army during World War I.
He went into banking about 1920 with the First National Bank of San Rafael. He went to work for Crocker Bank when that company bought First National. He worked up until his death for the Bank of Marin which he joined after leaving Crocker.
He was married for many years to Marie Freitas Crane, who died several years ago.
He was a member of Wilkins Post No. 57 of the American Legion, San Rafael Lodge No. 1108 of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks and Tamalpais Parlor No. 64 of the Native Sons of the Golden West. He was also treasurer of Home Dairy Inc.
He is survived by a daughter, Lois C. Jones of San Rafael; a brother, J. Warren Crane of San Rafael; and four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery, San Rafael. The rosary will be recited Wednesday at 8 p.m. at the church. Visitation will be Wednesday until 5 p.m. at Keatonís Mortuary in San Rafael.
The family prefers memorial contributions to a favorite charity.
