WILLIAM J. FLYNN
William J. Flynn, 65, of San Rafael, a retired Safeway store clerk, died Wednesday at a local hospital after a long illness.
Flynn had been a longtime clerk at the Safeway store on B Street in San Rafael before retiring in 1975. He had been a vice president of Local 119, Retail Clerks of San Rafael, and was a member of the Safeway Employees Association and the Retirees Club of Local 119.
Flynn was a native of San Francisco who had been a resident of Marin for 33 years.
Surviving are his wife, Irene Flynn of San Rafael; two daughters, Barbara Diez and LaVerne Gibson, both of San Jose; a brother, Harry Flynn of Sonoma; two sisters, Viola Ann Flynn and LaVerne Monozon, both of South San Francisco; and seven grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Raphaelís Church, San Rafael. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery, San Rafael. Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. today at Keatonís Mortuary. The family prefers that memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Fund.
