John Russell Green
John Russell Green, a retired high school teacher, died yesterday at his Novato home after a long illness. He was 71.
Green, who resided at 36 Montego Key, moved to Marin 10 years ago with his wife, Bernice.
He was a native of De Queen, Ark., but moved to Oklahoma, where he attended Oklahoma University at Stillwater.
Green received his teaching credential and taught high school in Oklahoma before moving to California in 1941. He retired in 1960 after teaching in Vallejo and at Mission and Polytechnical High Schools in San Francisco.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a brother, James T. Green of Tulsa, Okla., and three sisters, Mrs. Hubert Dobson of Stillwater, Mrs. Preston Lindsay of Phoenix and Mrs. Luther Hale of Caddo, Okla. He is also survived by three grandchildren.
Green was a member of the Bel Marin Keys Yacht Club and the Calvary Presbyterian Church in San Francisco.
A memorial service will be held tomorrow at 1 p.m. at the family home.
A Death Notice in the same paper mentions his deceased son, Dr. John Green, and his grandchildren - Caleb John Green, Shelley and Penelope Green of Seattle, Wash.
