The funeral for Matilda Herbert, longtime Mill Valley resident, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Miller Avenue church in Mill Valley.
Mrs. Herbert died Saturday, April 30, 1988, at CareWest Bayside Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Kentfield following a short illness. She was 91.
Mrs. Herbert was a native of Lithuania. She lived in Mill Valley for 45 years.
She was a nurse who served with the Army during World War I and later worked for 30 years at Mount Zion Hospital in San Francisco.
She was a member of the Triple C Club at the Mill Valley Community Church and the Mill Valley Outdoor Art Club.
Her husband, Roland H. Herbert, operated Herbert Realty on Shoreline highway in Mill Valley for 40 years. He died in 1983.
Mrs. Herbert is survived by two sons, David B. Herbert of San Anselmo and Richard D. Herbert of Novato; a daughter, Janet D. Back of San Anselmo; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Friends may call for visitation after 10 a.m. Tuesday at Russell and Gooch Funeral Chapel in Mill Valley.
Burial will be at Fernwood Cemetery in Mill Valley.
The family prefers that memorial contributions be sent to the Marin County Heart Association.
