John Joseph Jackson,
Passed away February 12, 2002 in San Rafael. He grew up in San Francisco; and was a Marin resident since 1963. John was a decorated veteran of WWII, having served in the Army 19th Engineer Regiment. He experienced combat in the Algerian, Tunisian, Sicilian, and Italian campaigns. He retired from Paige Glass Co. in 1965, having worked there for 46 years. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed traveling, reading, building projects, and was much accomplished in the craft of art glass. Two of his memberships were SIRS, Branch 47 and First Presbyterian Church of San Rafael.
He leaves Betty, his wife of 57 years and two children: Joe Jackson and wife, Sharon; a daughter, Cathy Jackson and her husband, Dave Olds; six grandchildren: Kristy Lewis and husband, Paul, Patty Jackson, Tom Jackson, Susie Jackson, Chad Schisler and wife, Mona and Mark Schisler; three great-grandchildren, Jack and Kyle Lewis and Madyson Schisler; also, two sisters, Mona Giller and Connie Cable and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held on February 22nd at 1 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 1510 Fifth Avenue, San Rafael. In lieu of flowers, contributions in John's memory may be made to the Deacons' Fund of First Presbyterian Church, San Rafael or to a favorite charity.
