Edna M. Shawler
Edna M. Shawler of San Rafael, a Marinresident for the past 27 years, died Sunday at a local hospital. She was 70.
Mrs. Shawler was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She and her husband, W. B. Shawler, married there in 1928.
The couple first came to the Bay Area in 1940 when Shawler was in the Army. During World War II, the couple moved to Fort Douglas in Salt Lake City and then back to San Francisco at the end of the war. Shawler worked as a civilian employee of the Department of the Army for many years.
They moved to Marin about 1954. Mrs. Shawler was active in San Rafael Chapter No. 215 of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 400 of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and the First Presbyterian Church of San Rafael.
Besides her husband, she is survived by three sons, Robert E. Shawler of San Diego, Gary L. Shawler of Ridgecrest, Kern County, and Donald A. Shawler of Long Beach; a daughter, Judith L. Bruni of Sacramento; eight grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild.
