Rites Held For Magnus Salinger
Private funeral services for Magnus Arthur Salinger of San Anselmo, retired tympanist for the San Francisco Symphony and business representative of the American Federation of Musicians in Marin County, were held today at Chapel of the Hills, San Anselmo. Committal followed in Golden Gate National Cemetery, San Bruno.
Salinger, 82, died Tuesday night at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Bernard H. Roarty, at 1315 San Anselmo avenue, San Anselmo. He and his wife, Grace, had been living with Mr. and Mrs. Roarty for the past six months. They previously resided at 20 Medway road.
A native of Melbourne, Australia, Salinger landed in Portland, Ore., when he first came to this country. He moved to San Francisco and, finally to Marin County, spending 28 years here.
He was associated with the symphony prior to World War II and later with Musicians Union Local 6. He was a president of Marin County Labor Council during the 1940s. He was a member of the Bohemian Club and a veteran of the Spanish American War.
